This iconic image of Marilyn Monroe is a high-quality authorized edition, published in 1993 in collaboration with The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. Based on Warhol’s original 1967 screenprint series, this “Hot Pink” version remains one of the most recognizable symbols of the Pop Art movement. The print was produced by the esteemed Achenbach Art Edition in Düsseldorf, known for their superior art reproductions.

What makes this particular piece noteworthy is its provenance from the renowned Galerie Barbara Farber in Amsterdam. It represents a bridge between high art and accessible design, reflecting Warhol’s own philosophy of mass-producing beauty. With its saturated neon tones and sharp registration, it serves as a powerful statement piece for any contemporary interior or collection of 20th-century graphic design.

Andy Warhol: The Architect of Pop Culture
American 1928-1987

Andy Warhol was an American artist, designer, and a central figure in the Pop Art movement who forever blurred the lines between “high” art and mass culture. Beginning his career as a successful commercial illustrator, he gained worldwide fame for his bold works that transformed everyday consumer objects—such as Campbell’s Soup cans—and portraits of global icons like Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Elizabeth Taylor into objects of aesthetic worship. His creative method, based on the mechanical reproduction of images and the use of vibrant, saturated colors, became a manifesto for a new era of consumerism.

At the heart of his creative universe was the famous New York studio, “The Factory,” which served as a magnet for bohemians, musicians, and intellectuals. Here, Warhol not only created his masterpieces using the silkscreen process but also experimented with film, music production, and publishing. Warhol’s philosophy—that art should be accessible and that “everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes”—made him one of the most influential and recognizable artists of the 20th century, whose legacy continues to dictate trends in contemporary art and design.
