This imaginative and intricate painting by the renowned Haitian artist Frantz Zéphirin depicts a surreal interpretation of the Tower of Babel. The composition is densely populated with fantastical anthropomorphic figures, snakes, and mythical beings surrounding a central, pyramid-like structure that appears to defy gravity, with figures seemingly floating or falling along its tiers.

The base of the painting features a boat carrying hybrid creatures, including a harpist, set upon stylized water, reinforcing the narrative and dreamlike quality characteristic of Zéphirin’s unique visionary style.

The work is in good condition, presented in a wooden frame. The reverse of the frame features several inventory markings, including “# 1115 Tower of Babel”, “89-38”, and a “HECHINGER 53” label.
