This exquisite serigraph is a premier example of Roy Fairchild-Woodard’s mastery of the silkscreen medium. Known for his complex, multi-layered printing process, the artist often employs up to 50 separate screens to achieve the extraordinary depth, texture, and saturated color seen in this work.

The composition captures a private, quiet moment, rendered with the artist’s signature blend of Renaissance-inspired grace and contemporary sensuality. His use of decorative patterns and a rich, jewel-toned palette evokes the spirit of the Pre-Raphaelites and Gustav Klimt, yet the fluidity of the lines remains distinctly modern. The surface of the print is notable for its tactile quality, often incorporating glazes and hand-finished details that make each serigraph feel like a unique painterly object.

Roy Fairchild-Woodard
British b. 1953

Roy Fairchild-Woodard is one of the most successful contemporary printmakers in the world. Drawing heavy influence from the Italian frescoes of the Renaissance and the works of Egon Schiele, he creates a world of “romantic interiors” and classical beauty.

His technique is famously labor-intensive, often involving extensive hand-drawn elements before the technical printing process begins. His work is highly sought after internationally and is featured in numerous prestigious private and corporate collections across Europe, the United States, and Asia.
