Details

Signed lower left “Antoine Blanchard.” Signed on the back.

This untitled by Antoine Blanchard is a lovely Parisian street scene. He loves the city and its eternal beauty. Here we see the famous Place de la République in the background, the statue in the center, pedestrians, horse drawn carriages and a flower vendor with a cart full of flowers.

Blanchard’s brushwork is loose and refined, the figures and the scenery seem to move. The colors are soft and atmospheric, greens, browns and warm yellows that give a sense of nostalgia. Trees line the street and the light is gentle, it’s a nice day. Blanchard captures the Paris he loves, every detail is like a storybook of everyday life in the City of Light. His work is romantic, it’s Paris, it feels familiar and timeless.
