Gregory Hull’s Basket Bloom glows with warmth and closeness, capturing flowers at their most fleeting. With deft control of light and texture, Hull turns a simple basket of blooms into a riot of color and form — each petal rendered with immediacy and elegance.
In this piece the artist’s brushwork moves between precision and freedom. The warm and cool tones dance together like sunlight filtering through a quiet room, giving the still life a sense of quiet life. The subtle shifts of color and the layers of paint create a sense of tactility that makes you want to linger.
Hull’s work is firmly in the American realist tradition but goes beyond representation. Basket Bloom is not just about light and color but an ode to transience — a meditation on the balance between abundance and impermanence where beauty is caught just before it disappears.

Gregory Hull is a painter of luminous landscapes, still lifes and figures who celebrates the power of light and color. A graduate of the University of Utah and a member of the California Art Club, Hull draws from the plein-air tradition while being a modern painter. His compositions are rich in atmosphere and texture and capture natural light with great subtlety and precision.
Over the years Hull has shown throughout the United States and has been recognized for his color harmony and brushwork. Whether it’s the quiet of a desert morning or the intimacy of flowers in bloom, his paintings convey a sense of presence – the moment when nature, observation and emotion meet on the canvas. Gregory Hull continues the tradition of American Impressionism with contemporary relevance.
