French Painter of Joinville-le-Pont and the Salon d’Automne Jury
Claude Boussier (1925–2014) was a French painter closely associated with Joinville-le-Pont, on the Marne southeast of Paris, where he kept his studio and residence at the quai Périer. His riverside boat and harbour scenes have been described in the trade as naïve in character, though the present winter view of Joinville was entered by the artist himself, and shown, under the Salon des Indépendants’ Réalistes category.
He served on the committee and jury of the Salon d’Automne at the Grand Palais in Paris, and exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, where La Neige de Noël à Joinville was shown in 1977. Auction records document works from across his career, from the 1950s to the 1990s.
