Jane Peterson was an American artist known for her bold color and her perspective on landscapes, cityscapes and flowers. Born in Illinois she traveled extensively in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East and brought the essence of each place back to her brushstrokes. Influenced by Impressionism, Fauvism and Post Impressionism her work is a rich tapestry of influences with vibrant color and loose brushwork. Through her paintings she brought the world to American audiences and was a beloved figure in early 20th century American art.
