Louis Bougues-Montès
French Pointillist Painter of Villages and Gardens
Louis de Bougues-Montès (1904–c.1979) was a French landscape painter active from the 1920s, working in a broken, Impressionist-derived brushwork close to pointillism. His subjects were the French countryside and village life — gardens, autumn poplars, terraces and village views — among them a canvas titled Le Jardin dated 1926, the same year as the present work.
His paintings have passed through French regional auction houses in Lyon and the Toulouse area; no exhibition record or dealer archive for him has otherwise come to light.
